The Reform Support Team for Legal Approximation at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is looking for Senior Legal Experts on various EU acquis areas (4 positions in total)

The European Union (EU) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are stepping up the efforts to support Ukraine’s European Integration policy agenda through the Ukraine Reforms Architecture (URA) programme.

Reform Support Team (RST) for Legal Approximation of Ukrainian Legislation to the EU acquis Approximation will be established within the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to address the critical needs of the Ukrainian Parliament in the area of EU acquis transposition and provide support to accelerate critical European integration reforms.

The RST will be an advisory body to the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada and will provide analytical and legal support to the adaptation of the Ukrainian legislation to EU norms and assist with closing the existing capacity gaps in the area of EU acquis transposition. It will provide support to the parliamentary committees, the Chairman of the Parliament and Members of the Parliament.

The RST will be integrated into existing coordination mechanisms between the Parliament and the Government while maintaining close collaboration and coordination with other reform teams of the Ukraine Reforms Architecture. The team will consist of 10 experienced Legal Experts in the pilot stage.

We are now opening the competition for the four Senior Legal Experts in the following EU acquis areas:

  • Intellectual Property Law;
  • Environment;
  • Consumer and Health Protection,
  • Financial Services.

The interested professionals are encouraged to apply.

The initial consultancy assignment is expected to start in May 2023 and has an estimated duration until 31 August 2023. The assignment may be extended, subject to the availability of donor funding and the consultant’s performance.

Ukraine Reforms Architecture (URA) is a comprehensive technical assistance programme deployed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in partnership with the European Union, to support critical reform processes in Ukraine. URA is financed from the Ukraine Stabilisation and Sustainable Growth Multi-Donor Account (MDA) managed by the EBRD. Contributors to the MDA are Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union.
